About 2048

2048 is a sliding tile puzzle played on a 4×4 grid. Use arrow keys on desktop or swipe on mobile to slide all tiles simultaneously. When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one tile worth double — two 2s become a 4, two 4s become an 8, and so on. The goal is to create a tile worth 2048. Once you reach it, keep going — skilled players push to 4096, 8192, and beyond. The challenge is planning your merges several moves ahead so the board does not fill up with unmatched tiles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when the board fills up?

When no tiles can slide or merge in any direction, the game ends. This is why keeping your highest tile in a corner is so important — it prevents the board from locking up too early.

Is there a trick to reaching 2048?

The most reliable strategy is to pick one corner and keep your highest tile there. Move only in two directions as much as possible — for example, right and down — so tiles build up consistently toward your corner tile.

Can I undo a move in 2048?

Currently 2048 on Flario does not have an undo button. Every move is permanent, which is what makes planning ahead so important. A future update may add a limited undo option.

Does my high score save?

Yes. Your highest tile reached and best score are saved in your browser automatically. They appear at the top of the game so you always know your personal best to beat.

What is the maximum possible score in 2048?

Theoretically, a perfect game on a 4×4 board can reach a tile of 131072, though this requires a flawless sequence of moves and is essentially impossible in practice. Most skilled players target 4096 or 8192 as a realistic challenge.

Is 2048 good for the brain?

Yes. 2048 trains planning, pattern recognition, and spatial reasoning. Regularly playing tile puzzle games has been associated with improved working memory and strategic thinking skills.
