About Typing Speed
The Typing Speed Test measures how many words you can type accurately per minute (WPM). Choose from 30, 60, or 90-word tests across Easy, Medium, or Hard word difficulty levels. As you type, each correctly typed character turns green and errors turn red so you can see your accuracy in real time. When you finish, your WPM, accuracy percentage, and rank are displayed. The average adult types 40 WPM — above 60 is above average, above 80 is fast, and above 100 WPM puts you in the top tier. Regular practice on typing speed tests measurably improves your speed within weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good typing speed?
The average adult types around 40 words per minute. Typing above 60 WPM is considered above average, above 80 WPM is fast, and above 100 WPM is exceptional. Professional typists and stenographers often exceed 120 WPM.
How do I improve my typing speed?
Focus on accuracy before speed — errors slow you down more than careful typing does. Keep your fingers on the home row (ASDF JKL;), look at the screen rather than your hands, and practise for 10–15 minutes daily. Speed follows naturally from consistent, accurate practice.
Does capitalisation count against accuracy?
Flario's typing test accepts both uppercase and lowercase input — the test normalises your input so you are not penalised for Caps Lock being on. This lets you focus on word speed rather than shift key management.
What is the difference between Easy, Medium, and Hard word modes?
Easy mode uses short, common words (2–4 letters) that most people recognise instantly. Medium uses standard words of varying length. Hard mode includes longer, less common words that require more thought and finger stretches — great for advanced typists.
Does the test end when I finish all words or when time runs out?
The test ends whichever comes first — either you type all the words, or the timer reaches zero. Your WPM is calculated based on correct words typed divided by the time actually elapsed.
Is Flario's typing test accurate?
Yes. WPM is calculated using the standard formula: correct words divided by elapsed minutes. Accuracy is calculated as correctly typed characters divided by total characters typed, multiplied by 100.
